Schaap & Citroen vintage watches
Since when can we go to Schaap en Citroen for vintage watches?
" In November 2018 we opened a pre-owned & vintage watches store at the Conservatorium Hotel Amsterdam. You can go here for trade-in, sale and purchase. In this way Schaap en Citroen meets a large part of its customers, but is drilling a new target group. Schaap en Citroen prevents its customers from having to go to the gray / parallel market to trade in or sell their watches and there is no doubt about the authenticity of the watch they have bought. "
When do you call a watch 'vintage'?
"There is not one definition for the term vintage. This also depends on the brand and who you ask. In general, age is a good guideline. At least 30 years old is a good indication given the total period in which wrist watches are made. Watches that are less than 30 years old are second-hand, and copies that are post-2010 have been 'worn young' can be used as a kind of guideline.
For some brands it is a bit clearer than for other brands. For example the Officine Panerai brand. There have been a number of important periods in the history of this brand. The so-called pre-Vendome period is one of them. The Panerai brand was acquired by Vendome in the late 1990s. All models can be placed under the vintage heading. The low production figures and the models based on history make this very interesting models for collectors and enthusiasts.
There is also a clear limit to the Rolex brand. In the mid-eighties, the Rolex brand switched from plexiglass to sapphire glass and from matte black dials to high-gloss dials. For the purists among us, this makes the difference between a second-hand or young-worn Rolex and a vintage one.
Which brands are sold?
"Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe, Omega, IWC, Hublot, Cartier, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Breguet, Panerai, Buben & Zörweg and Swiss Kubik."
Better known as the most complicated watch that Patek Philippe has ever made. The case is carved by hand from 18 carat white gold. The striking blue dial is a golden enamel plate and the indexes are also made of gold. The watch has a diameter of 38 millimeters. The cabinet contains a special mechanical timepiece that must be wound by hand: caliber R TO 27 QR SID LU CL. This timepiece with two dials (front and back) is good for a perpetual calendar with oneretrograde date indication, the hours and minutes of solar time, day, month and (leap) year indication, moon phase, star time and a sky map.

The most common mistake when buying a vintage watch:
"One of the most common mistakes when purchasing a vintage model is the lack of originality. No matter how nice the watch looks, for example, if the dial has been replaced by a more recent one, this has an effect on the value. It can even be as small as a wrong hand. "
Most important tip for purchasing a vintage watch:
"One of the most important points when purchasing a vintage watch is the originality of the piece. Is the watch the same as it once left the factory? Another important point from the point of view of collecting is the completeness of the package. Is the original box still present? Are the original guarantee papers present? Are the booklets and hanging tags still present? A purchase note is also great to have with your vintage watch.
